Station Keeper
The Midway Fire District has a full-time/part-time hourly position available for a professional and highly motivated person to perform and maintain fire district buildings, grounds, and equipment. Must have good communication skills, the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, be flexible with work hours when necessary. Prior experience preferred.
Full time hours at 40 hours per week Monday – Friday 8 AM – 4 PM., Pay rate based on experience. Benefits for full-time employees include health insurance, vacation, personal and sick time, and paid holidays. Overtime will be paid for more than 40 hours work at time and one-half.
Part-time hours will be approximately 8 to 32 hours.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older with relevant work or experience
- Basic knowledge and abilities to perform general maintenance, and the ability to maintain and use hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills are helpful.
- Applicants must be an Active Interior Firefighter in a NYS Volunteer Fire Department
- Pass Fire District physical, drug screen, and background check
- Willing to respond to emergencies and snow removal.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s license, with a good driving record.

Extensive knowledge of pump operations, ladders, and fire equipment as duties will concentrate in maintaining
all such items as are utilized in fire service. Training will be provided for driving fire apparatus and to run
pumps and equipment associated with firefighting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs work under the discretion of the Fire District Administrative Supervisor and Commissioner in charge of Personnel.

Maintain Fire District buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Mowing, trimming of bushes and trees.
- Removal of snow and ice. Snow and ice removal may need to be done off hours in the event of a snowstorm. Salting as needed.
- Maintaining and repairing equipment

Custodial type services including but not limited to mopping, vacuuming cleaning windows, floor buffing,
carpet cleaning, and garbage removal
- Assist with set up and breakdown for Fire District and Fire Department meetings, or as requested.

Fire Apparatus and Equipment
- Clean, fuel, maintain, perform daily truck/equipment checks.
- Perform minor apparatus/equipment repairs.
- Upon request, participate in community outreach events, i.e., fire prevention.
- Any additional tasks as requested by Chief Officers

Must be able to qualify as a driver on all District vehicles and apparatus. Training will be provided on District
time but experience driving such apparatus is preferred.

All other duties as assigned by the Fire District Administrative Supervisor, Board of fire Commissioners, and/or
Fire Chief or his designee.
